Visualizing CRS Faculty Collaboration

With the purpose of strengthening collaboration and encouraging team science, CRS founder Dr. Neena Schwartz ensured that CRS membership consisted of faculty from across Northwestern on both the Evanston and Chicago campuses. Reproductive Science and Medicine is a highly interdisciplinary field and the CRS prides itself on the cross-collaboration among faculty members in a number of related, but distinct, disciplines. To prove this point visually, CRS leadership partnered with Mao Soulakis and the Research Assessment and Communications Department of the Galter Health Sciences Library on a project to create an interactive graphic that would illustrate the collaborations among CRS faculty members.

The graphic above illustrates co-authorship among CRS faculty from 2016-2021 (present) and further depicts the cutting-edge cross-collaborations among fields, which has become a hallmark of the CRS. Each faculty member is represented by a colored node that corresponds with their primary department. Faculty members are then linked if they have co-authored any papers indexed in Scopus since 2016. A special thank you to Mao and her team for taking our ideas and making them a reality!
