Illinois Symposium on Reproductive Science
The ISRS is an annual regional meeting that offers a unique opportunity for graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, and clinical fellows in the reproductive sciences to plan a meeting and present their research to their peers and senior scientists from across Illinois and beyond. This event grew out of the Mini-symposium in Reproductive Biology (now called Reproductive Science and Medicine Summit) that has been held at Northwestern University since 1980 and the Biennial Reproductive Biology meeting organized by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and at Chicago (UIUC and UIC).
In 2008, a group of reproductive science faculty from across Illinois conceived of an annual, trainee-focused meeting hosted by a rotation of Illinois universities including Northwestern, UIUC, UIC and Southern Illinois University (SIU). The goals of ISRS are to celebrate our strong research and educational heritage, to foster the exchange of scientific information in the reproductive sciences, to facilitate the training and career development of future reproductive scientists, and to leverage our collective institutional strengths to maintain Illinois in a preeminent nationwide position in this critical research field. A traditional and highly valued component of the ISRS meeting is that a committee of trainees plans and organizes all aspects of the meeting. The trainee committee includes members from across Illinois and promotes a state-wide peer and mentor network for our trainees. Trainee awards for this event are funded through the Constance Campbell Memorial Fund.
